inspiration: “shiny, happy people”

December 29, 2010

I mean, the title says it all; who doesn’t feel happy when one sparkles? Of course, this is especially relevant on New Years Eve, the one night of the year when sequins and sparkly things are absolutely mandatory. I definitely plan to be a  SHINY, HAPPY PERSON! hehe

plaid button-up and skirt: Urban Outfitters, vest: H&M, belt: vintage, shoes: Aldo *photography by rsimmen

There’s nothing like plaid flannel shirts and gold-baubled-vests to make you feel like you are dressing for winter holidays right? I am in love with all of these items, together or apart. Especially the SHOES. You will be seeing a lot more of these babies- I don’t want to take them off.

sweater: H&M, striped top: New Look (UK), leggings: Aritzia, shoes, Aldo. photography by rsimmen.

gah! I cannot believe it’s already time to go back to work tomorrow. Not excited. I’d much rather stay at home, hang out with my family, and wear this sweater 24/7 it’s so giant and cozy. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, ate lots of turkey and desserts, stayed up late watching christmas movies,  and had fun with your families! I definitely did.

SO, now that christmas shopping is over the next shopping mission begins! What to wear for New Years!?

photo diary: london!

*all photography by me, bracelet and neck piece by Michelle Lowe-Holder

2010 is coming to an end, which has me thinking about all the things I did this year. One of my favourite things was in March when I went to London for a month to do a textile design internship at Michelle Lowe-Holder. I wanted to share a few photos from my trip! I can’t believe how much time has flown by since then! It was such an amazing experience and it was so good to see all my friends from when I studied at Winchester School of Art  in my third year of university. Ahh – I can’t wait to go back again!

this month’s design + exciting announcement!!

December 14, 2010

This is another old pattern of mine, my apologies! BUT the good news is my design website [] is getting very close to completion! I did this pattern for my popular culture class in my 4th year at OCAD. We had to do a piece, in any medium, on one of the books we read in class, and I chose Valley of the Dolls by Jacqueline Susann. The book is basically the first Sex and the City, except with a lot more drugs and without the happy ending. Sounds depressing I know, but it was actually a really good book! but anyways this was my result!

DENJ handmade silk scarves will be available at the BICYCLETTE BOUTIQUE HOLIDAY POP-UP SALE!

make sure you check it out!

Everyone has been talking about christmas shopping lately, and I have yet to step into the mall this month to even attempt to get started. I generally don’t feel ready until there’s snow on the ground and the christmas tree is up, and by that time it’s mid-december and I’m freaking, wondering why I didn’t get on it earlier. It’s a vicious cycle really… I’m just about at the freaking-out stage right now. My mom and I decorated the christmas tree today, during which my mom turned on her favourite christmas cd, cranked the volume, and started dancing around the living room! hehe,  I think that just might be what put me in the christmas spirit!
